NPC questlines are a pretty important part of FromSoft games, and Elden Ring is no different. You’ll get an insight into the lore, “enjoy” a good little sidestory, and often impact the game’s ending. Problem is, FromSoft has a grandiose, if difficult to navigate, world design. It’s easy to lose an NPC, especially after a critical storybeat. Some like to disappear off to a seemingly random location, leaving only a breadcrumb trail for you to follow.
Blaidd is one of these NPCs. After the Radahn Festival reaches its end and the Starscourge lies slain, he more or less vanishes. While he isn’t the only NPC in Elden Ring to pull a disappearing act, he is one of the more important ones. Blaidd is needed for Ranni’s questline, which itself is needed for a specific ending. Like it or not, you’ll need to find where Blaidd ran off to if you want this ending unlocked.

Where to find Blaidd after Radahn

Immediately after defeating Radahn, Blaidd can be found next to the Site of Grace that pops up. He, and Iron Fist Alexander, who can be found down the hill, has a new bit of dialogue to share with you. If you listen to Blaidd, he offers a good hint as to where he can be found. He declares that you and he must meet in Nokron, the area opened up by the meteorite that Radahn kept at bay. Together, you and Blaidd will fight for Ranni’s fate.

As glorious and clear-cut as this might sound, you will never find Blaidd in Nokron. The clue given by him in the previous dialogue is a complete red herring; Blaidd never even makes it close to the Eternal City. It’s still a good place to explore, however. There’s a whole load of items and materials down there, a few bosses, and you’ll need to visit to complete certain questlines, like D’s. This red herring was probably placed to misdirect you down into Nokron, encouraging you to explore the area instead of moving on elsewhere. But, if you want to find Blaidd after Radahn’s festival, you’ll need to look somewhere a little unexpected.
Heading to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol
Rather than heading to Nokron, Blaidd is imprisoned by War Counselor Iji in the Forlorn Hound Evergaol. This happens immediately once you leave Radahn’s battleground; if you want to hear what Blaidd has to say, you have to speak to him right after the fight, or you’ll lose your only chance.
For more lore, you should do a bit of back and forth. First, head to War Counselor Iji before going to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol. He’ll tell you a bit more about Radahn, Ranni, and urge you to explore Nokron. You should probably heed that advice at some point. Next, head on over to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol. This location can be found in the south of Limgrave, close to the bridge leading to the Weeping Peninsula. Travel to the Agheel Lake South Site of Grace, then head up the hill. You can hear Blaidd howling from within the Evergaol.
If you speak with him, he will state that War Counselor Iji imprisoned him in the Evergaol, then ask you to free him. Blaidd needs to be freed to progress both his and Ranni’s questline, so you’ll need to comply at some point. Do so, then head back to War Counselor Iji for a bit more lore surrounding Blaidd and Ranni, though I’ll leave the details for you to discover.

Defeating Radahn before starting Ranni’s questline

Some questlines in Elden Ring are easy to get locked out of. Ranni’s, and by extension Blaidd’s, is not one of them. If you have defeated Radahn before so much as meeting Ranni, you won’t be soft-locked out of these quests. You will, however, have a couple of tasks to do to catch up.
Firstly, you should head over to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol anyway. Blaidd won’t be in there howling until you begin Ranni’s questline, but you might as well dispatch the current occupant, Bloodhound Knight Darriwil, before doing so. If you visit before killing Radahn, you can summon Blaidd to help you with the fight. Defeat the Knight, then head off to Liurnia. Your next destination is Caria Manor, which can be found on the lake’s western side.
